English Chapter 23-Conjunction
Conjunction (kata sambung) ialah kata yang digunakan untuk menyambung
atau menghubungkan dua buah kata atau kalimat menjadi satu.
1. Co-ordinate Conjuctions
Co-ordinate Conjunctions adalah kata sambung yang menghubungkan dua
kalimat yang sederajat, yaitu kalimat yang satu tidak berhantung pada kalimat
lain.
Co-ordinate Conjunction dibagi menjadi dua
bagian :
a. Cumulative (kumulatif) menunjukkan
penambahan
Contoh :
And, both...and, also, as well as, no
less...than, not only...but, not only...but also.
·
I bought a
shirt and a towel.
·
You are
clever but very lazy.
·
Both Hasna
and Hana are students of Islamic University.
·
I bought
not only a book but alsi some pens.
·
They are
clever and he also.
·
I don't go
and he doesn't come here.
·
She is
both lazy boys and a drunkard.
·
I as well
as you are fear.
·
You no
less than they are stupid.
Kata bantu dan kata kerja pada pemakaian =
as well as, no less than mengikuti subject (kata ganti) yang pertama.
·
He is not
only pretty but also clever.
·
Not only
he but all the students must follow the examination.
b. Alternative menunjukkan
pilihan(diantara dua)
Contoh :
Nor, or, else, either...or, neither
otherwise.
·
Wither he
passed the examine or his friend.
·
I bought
not only a book but also some pens.
·
Either
Hasna or Hana go to campus by taxi.
·
Neither
Ali nor Hasna go to campus by plane.
·
Either Ali
more clever or his brother.
·
Hasna is
neither stupid nor lazy.
·
I neither
liked him nor loved him.
·
Cinta or
Rangga is your favourite actor.
·
Don't go
out now, or you will be rained.
·
Study,
else you will be failed the examination.
·
We must
work hard; otherwise we will find difficulty to life.
c. Adversative menunjukkan
kontras/perlawanan
Contoh :
But, still, yet, nevertheless, however,
whereas, while, only.
·
He rich,
but miserly.
·
You are
clever, but lazy.
·
I have
been long waited you, still you have not come.
·
She is
very beautiful, yet she is proud.
·
Ali like
to go a picnic, however, he have no money.
·
I was
reading a magazine while my mother cooked in the kitchen.
·
I'd have
invited you, only I did not know where you live.
d. Illative (menunjukkan kesimpulan)
Contoh :
Therefore, so, so then, for, then.
·
He has no
money therefore he can not continue his study.
·
It was
rain and therefore I don't go to campus.
·
It has
been dark so I want to go home.
·
I have no
money so I borrow it for you.
·
We have
been a long here so then we shall come back.
·
You have a
debt then you must pay it.
·
He did not
go to study for he was sick.
2. Sub-ordinate Conjunctions
Untuk menghubungkan anak kalimat dengan sebuah kata atau atau klausa
yang lain (dependent clause). Beberapa kata sambung tersebut adalah :
After = Sesudah
After all = Bagaimanapun (juga)
All the same =
Namun, sekalipun begitu
Although =
Meskipun
As = Seperti, sebab
As if = Seolah-olah
Because = Karena
Even = Meskipun
However =
Betapapun
For = Sebab
Furthermore =
Lagipula
Hence = Karena itu, karenanya
If = Jika
In case = Jika seandainya
In other to =
Agar, supaya
In other that = Agar,
supaya
int the meantime= Sementara itu
Moreover =
Lagipula
Nevertheless = Namun
begitu
On the country = Sebaliknya
Otherwise =
Jika tidak
Provided =
Asal saja
Though = Walaupun
Although =
Walaupun
While = Ketika
Until = Hingga
Unless = Kecuali, etc.
Keterangan :
