English Chapter 21-Reflextive Pronouns

1. Reflextive Pronoun (Kata ganti mandiri)

  Reflextive Pronoun (Kata ganti mandiri) umumnya menunjuk kembali kepada subjeknya sendiri. Perhatikan bentuk reflextive pronoun berikut ini :

·           I myself help his mother.

·           He helps himself.

·           She goes to Jakarta by herself.

Kata ganti reflextive :

·           Tunggal : ...self

·           Jamak : ...selves

Berikut ini diagram perubahan dari personal pronoun menjadi pronouns reflextive :

2. Penggunaan Reflextive Pronoun

a. Emphatic Use (Sebagai penegasan diri)

Untuk pola ini reflextive langsung mengikuti subjek.

Contoh :

·           I myself open the door.

·           The victims themselves can't explain how the accident happened.

b. Reflextive Use (Mengenai diri sendiri)

Untuk pola ini, reflextive terletak sesudah objek.

Contoh :

·           He killed himself with a knife.

·           We told Mrs. Hasna herself about the matter.

c. By...Self... = Alone (Sendirian)

Reflextive digunakan bersama kata by dengan arti alone (sendiri)

Contoh :

·           She goes alone to Jakarta (...sendirian...)

·           My sister doesn't like to study by herself.

d. Sebagai objek kata kerja.

Untuk pola ini, reflextive terletak sesudah kata kerja.

Contoh :

·                It is time I bought myself a new car.

·                You should depend on yourself rather than on others.
